Community Foundation encourages locals to show their pride and help build a Langley for future generations.

What do you love most about Langley? Maybe it's the parks and trails, or the people who make their homes and businesses here. Maybe it's the organizations and non-profits that create a welcoming community for all.

For many of us, the answer is likely: "all of the above!"

That sentiment is at the heart of the Langley Community Foundation's "I Love Langley" campaign, which encourages locals to give what they can to support projects designed to improve and enhance Langley, explains Inga Warnock, the Foundation's Director of Planned Gifts.

Established just over four years ago, the Langley Community Foundation supports local charities, creates new parks, expands trails, restores heritage buildings and adds trees and benches in green spaces throughout Langley.

"Our I Love Langley campaign was established last year to encourage locals to get involved in projects that will create legacies and build up our community," Warnock says. "Individuals and businesses can show their pride and help build an exceptional Langley for their families, their community and their future.

"Anyone can contribute and any amount is welcomed and appreciated, they all make a difference," Warnock notes, pointing to local organizations like the Greater Langley Chamber of Commerce and Applewood Auto Group, who were keen to get involved.

But just as important are individual donors who want to give back to the community that has given them so much.

"This campaign is for everyone who loves Langley and wants to make a difference in their community," Warnock emphasizes.

Why monthly donations can help

While all gifts are welcome, many find giving a smaller amount regularly through the year is easier to manage than a single large donation. And for the Foundation, monthly donations also allow for easier planning, Warnock says.

But most importantly, "whether you make a one-time contribution or a monthly gift, every donation stays in our community and supports local projects."

For many long-time Langley families, the campaign also offers the opportunity to create a lasting legacy, whether through their own planned giving, or a memorial to a loved one.

"We can provide a lasting tribute with options of planning giving, memorial benches, or trees planted in green spaces dedicated to a loved one, a memory, or a community project," Warnock says. "These legacies offer options and spaces for reflection and comfort to all who are part of our beautiful Langley."

Beyond memorials, contributions to the Foundation's endowment fund can also provide much-needed support for vital projects and programs throughout Langley. "I don't think a week goes by that I don't receive a request for funding."
